In apprehension of situation likely to escalate, the Tuensang district magistrate February 6 promulgated Section 144 CrPc and imposed 36-hour curfew in and around Tuensang town with immediate effect till 6 a.m. of February 8, 2015.
The district magistrate has directed all public to stay indoors during the curfew hours and cautioned that any person found violating the order would be penalised as per law.

In a press release, district magistrate Alem Jongshi stated that public peace and security was badly shaken due to breakdown of law and order in Chingmellen and Sotokur village. According to district magistrate, with reports of violent outrage mob leading to further breakdown of peace and tranquillity in Tuensang town endangering human life and property, Section 144 CrPc was re-imposed with immediate effect.
It maybe mentioned that on February 6, two persons were killed that included a minor boy in acts of violence in Tunesang.
In what was seen as a retaliation, a mob reportedly attacked a policeman in Tuensang town. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was dragged out and hacked to death. Armed police forces were rushed to Tuensang while central paramilitary forces were also asked to be on stand by.

3 held with bombs, pistol and ammunition: Tuensang police arrested three persons along with one pistol (.22 country made), ammunitions and country made pipe bombs on February 6.

In another incident, police said one Shitoba Yim (33) son of Hanso, village-Y/anner, PO/PS- Shamator, Tuensang was arrested with two country made pipe-bombs along with an accomplice identified as one Tsuba Yim (23) son of Kenuba, v/o Sangpur, PO/PS Shamator, Tuensang.
