ENSA bans employment of domestic workers

Eastern Naga Students’ Association (ENSA) has resolved to “totally ban” the employment of Eastern Nagas (Myanmar) as domestic workers/helpers” in Nagaland. In a press release, ENSA president Nokpai Konyak and general secretary Kailong Leinong said the resolution was adopted by its executive council and advisory board during its first executive meeting held on August 12, 2019.

The executive meeting also resolved that Eastern Naga (Myanmar) students, desiring to live in Nagaland, shall have first register in its own respective federating unit or association and their enrollment should reach ENSA office. It was resolved that no person/student from the Eastern Nagas (Myanmar) would be allowed to stay with guardians or in other places without any purpose. ENSA affirmed that it would take serious actions if anyone found doing so. Further, the association has decided that no sponsors shall be allowed without prior information and knowledge of the ENSA.

It noted that some people from Eastern Nagas were taking advantage of getting and receiving sponsorships/fund in the name of Eastern Nagas (Myanmar).

ENSA has affirmed to take serious action against anyone who bring students from Eastern Nagas (Myanmar) and keep them with unknown guardian without informing responsible person/Federating unit. It stated that students must have their legal guardian for attaining better education. ENSA also encouraged the people of Eastern Nagas for home-based education.

Meanwhile, ENSA has requested all the federating units and sub-ordinate bodies to remain vigilant as few “non-Nagas of Myanmar are misusing Naga identity and practicing  shameful deeds” to spoil the image of Nagas in Nagaland.
