The Eastern Nagas in Nagaland comprise of six major tribes of Nagaland.They are:Chang,Khiamniungan,Konyak,Phom,Sangtam and Yimchunger,inhabiting Kiphire,Longleng,Mon and Tuensang districts.The festivals of Chang,Khiamniungan,Konyak,Phom,Sangtam and Yimchunger are Naknyulem (July 2nd week),Tsokum (Oct 1st week),Aoleang Monyu(April 1st week),Monyu( April 1st week),Amongmong(Sept 1st week) and Metumniu(Aug 2nd week)respectively.Some Eastern Nagas also resides in Myanmar,Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Kiphire DPDB meeting discusses April 28 incident
The monthly meeting of Kiphire District Planning and Development Board was held at the official chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire with Parliamentary Secretary, Excise, Legal Meteorology & Consumer Protection, Economics & Statistics and DPDB Chairman, T. Torechu.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairman said, “burning down of the DC’s residence was due to ignorance and no one thought that such things would happen in the district.” He expressed sadness over the damage and at the same appreciated the courage and steps taken by the district administration and DEF to bring the situation under control. The appealed to the members to educate and change the mindset of the people so that such incidents are not repeated again.
Pointing out some of the problem of the district Torechu said, “Multi tribe, multi dialect and remoteness are some of the problem of the district” and appeal the tribal leaders to take each other as brothers so that they work together for the progress of the people of the district.
W. Krome DIG Range disclosed that from the side of the police, DIG Range, IG (INT), IG (OPS) and from army, core commander, Lt General, (IGAR) Brigadier have visited the place for investigation and inquiry on April 28 incident. However, from administration only one secretary was sent for inquiry to assess damages done. He appealed to the members to join hand with the police in the investigation so that justice is done and such things do not happen again.
DC Kesonyu Yhome, IAS welcomed the gathering and reviewed the meeting minutes and placed the agendas put forwarded by various department. Indian Red Cross Hony Secretary Kiphire branch Tsointhe presented activities of the branch and appeal the members to be enrolled in the humanitarian service. Education department made a presentation on the departmental achievement and activities. Upgradation of SDO Power to E.E Power, deputy superintendent of excise, creation of art and culture office, and DIET were some of the other agendas discussed.
