The Eastern Nagas in Nagaland comprise of six major tribes of Nagaland.They are:Chang,Khiamniungan,Konyak,Phom,Sangtam and Yimchunger,inhabiting Kiphire,Longleng,Mon and Tuensang districts.The festivals of Chang,Khiamniungan,Konyak,Phom,Sangtam and Yimchunger are Naknyulem (July 2nd week),Tsokum (Oct 1st week),Aoleang Monyu(April 1st week),Monyu( April 1st week),Amongmong(Sept 1st week) and Metumniu(Aug 2nd week)respectively.Some Eastern Nagas also resides in Myanmar,Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

ANSTA Kiphire unit condemn April 26 incident
All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) Kiphire unit has condemned the April 26 incident where Kito Z Ayemi primary teacher of Sitmi village was physically assaulted by NSCN (I-M) in Kohima on suspicion. In a press statement, president ANSTA Kiphire unit, Lipiri Sangtam stated that Kito Z Ayemi was “fallaciously implicated” of collecting tax and was assaulted without proper investigation.
It also stated that Kito was an “innocent teacher” who was in Kohima for personal work. Condemning the “inhuman” act melted out to the innocent teacher, the association has appealed the authority in-charge to book the culprit and award befitting punishment.
