GPRN/NSCN Phom region cracks down on drug users, peddlers

GPRN/NSCN Phom region have apprehended 13 habitual drugs users and 5 peddlers at Yaongyimchen and Alayong villages under Longleng district on October 23.

According to GPRN/NSCN Phom region education Kilonser A. Chuba Phom, the drug users and peddlers were held while GPRN/NSCN was conducting routine tour cum area domination duty covering all the villages under its jurisdiction. 

Reports reaching Nagaland Post said, the kilonser also disclosed that when his team reached Yaongyimchen village, team members also caught “red handed” one person carrying consignment of “spasmo proxyvon” and brown sugar which was transported from a neighboring state. 

The haul during the tour included 1,225 spasmo proxyvon capsules, 5 grams of brown sugar, 110 tiny packs of opium and 1 kg of dry leaves of cannabis. 

The habitual users apprehended were identified as Alemlukba Phom, Takudong Phom, Tali Akum Phom, Mechuba Phom, Yangsong Phom, Tongpang Phom, Isac Phom, Hamong Phom, Mangko Phom, Alemba Phom, Sentong Phom, Alemtoshi Phom and Imti Phom, all from Yaongyimchen and Alayong villages. 

The peddlers have been identified as Toshi Yimba Phom, Chubameren Phom, Hanni Nongba, Pongshei Phom, Mejong Phom, all from Yaongyimchen and Alayong villages.

The kilonser disclosed that they were released after two village council chairmen and the “offenders” of both the villages pleaded and agreed to sign a bond that if they would be punished if they repeated the same offence. 

He also warned the drug users and peddlers in Longleng district to stop their activities immediately. Later, the seized consignments were destroyed by GPRN/NSCN in the presence of village councils from both the villages, Church elders, student leaders and publics from both the villages in the evening.
